Description of Position
College of the Sequoias is seeking a Director of Agricultural Programs. Under the direction of the Dean of Career and Technical Education, the Director is an academic administrator responsible for supervising the college’s agriculture, dairy, dairy processing plant, horticulture and equine and animal science instructional programs.
The Director will work with the Agriculture Division Chair and provide daily supervision of these programs and the assigned faculty and staff by providing monitoring of program resources and finances, supervision of all personnel, planning for facility maintenance, guidance of curriculum development and program review processes, and overall management of all COS farm properties and equipment.
The Director will have the unique opportunity to facilitate the planning and design of an entirely new agriculture facility planned for a new COS campus in Tulare, CA. Additionally, the Director will be responsible for planning and implementing all aspects of the physical relocation of the facilities, faculty and staff from the current facilities to the new campus. The Director will monitor all Agriculture Enterprise contracts and projects working with the Agriculture Enterprise Coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to:
• Master’s degree in agriculture, agriculture sciences or education with a specialization in agriculture, or
• Bachelor’s degree in any of the above and a Master’s degree in agriculture business, natural resources, animal science, plant science, soil science, forestry, pomology, agricultural viticulture or enology or related experience in the agriculture industry, and
• Demonstrated sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, social, economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Licenses and Other Requirements
• Valid driver’s license.
• An incumbent must be insurable at the “standard rate” by the employer’s insurance carrier at all times while employed in this classification by the College of the Sequoias.
Representative Duties
• Assure compliance with District, State and Federal policies, laws and regulations related to assigned activities.
• Provide leadership and management of the instructional programs in close cooperation with the Dean. This includes all aspects of curriculum design and implementation; supervise and facilitate all program review processes; monitoring and maintenance all certificate and degree programs.
• Establish open, regular and effective relations with the Agriculture Advisory Committees. Plan, conduct, and participate in regularly scheduled meetings, maintaining written and personal communications with local industry leaders and representing the College to the agricultural community.
• Develop and maintain systems and procedures to effectively and efficiently conduct and monitor the business and fiscal aspects of the farm, district and club accounts associated with the programs, and provide regular financial reporting to the Dean as required.
• Provide supervision, evaluation and leadership
Salary: $84,094-$124,244 annually
