Description of Position
Under the direction of the Vice President, Student Services, the Dean will provide leadership, direction and administrative responsibility to a diverse and comprehensive range of Student Services areas charged with promoting and delivering programs and services that enhance student success. Areas of responsibility include:
• Counseling
• First Year Experience Program
• Outreach
• Veterans
• Student Activities
• Transfer/Career Center
• Articulation and Assessment
• Matriculation
• Puente
• Student Services Division Faculty
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to:
• Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work or Marriage, Family and Child Counseling or
• a counseling credential from an accredited institution and two years of management experience.
(Experience managing a student service program is desirable.) and
• Demonstrated sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, social, economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Licenses and Other Requirements
• Valid driver’s license.
• An incumbent must be insurable at the “standard rate” by the employer’s insurance carrier at all times while employed in this classification by the College of the Sequoias.
Representative Duties
• Provide leadership, supervision and administrative direction to all functional areas of responsibility to include Student Services instructional areas and guidance courses.
• Manage, direct and evaluate the work of assigned managers, academic and classified support staff; recommend for employment, direct the assignment of, and direct the evaluation of all assigned staff.
• Prepare, monitor, and recommend an annual budget for assigned departments of the college and approve and monitor fiscal expenditures for all programs within area of responsibility.
• Review and evaluate assigned programs and services; recommend and implement approved plans and policies to facilitate and improve the operations and programs within areas of responsibility.
• Work cooperatively with college staff, coordinators, managers and administrators to achieve established goals and objectives for all areas of responsibility.
• Develop and generate statistical data and reports related to counseling and matriculation.
• Develop and coordinate additional counseling services at off-campus locations.
• Represent area’s concerns and needs to the Vice President.
• Interpret College policy and administrative decisions to those employees under your supervision.
• Provide leadership and direction for a staff development program for management, classified and certificated personnel.
• Direct and participate in the preparation of grant proposals
Salary: $92,823 - $137,143
