Resident Camp Counselor
Job Description:
Counselors are in charge of and develop the activities for a group of about seven children each week at Camp Quien Sabe. Camp Quien Sabe (CQS) is located on Hwy 68 in the youth overnight area of Toro Regional Park. The week’s activities include such things as swimming, boating, hiking, crafts, nature activities, campfire programs, and cookout activities. All other things being equal, counselors are hired on the basis of age. 16 years is the recommended minimum age for counseling. Salary ranges from $400 to $440 per week. The directors are searching for talented, responsible, energetic, young people. The directors need people who can organize activities for youth and teens and work well with them. Applicants must be available to work the entire camping schedule, including staff meetings, a Family Weekend, set-up and take-down. The camp session runs from June 13 through August 1. You will be given a specific calendar by early June in order to chart your work days if selected. Eligible candidates are required to submit to and successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening for controlled substances prior to hire; and, if selected for employment will be subject to on-duty random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment.
All applicants will be invited to compete in a group leader assessment interview Saturday, April 4, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Qualifications:
1. Must show written proof of absence of tuberculosis (TB).
2. Have a valid Social Security card.
3. Show proof of citizenship or approval to work in the United States.
4. Must be certified in standard First Aid and CPR training.
Salary: $400 - $440 per week
