ACCOUNTANT
Job Description:
The Customer Accounting Department provides customer service for water users and landowners in the District. Department staff is responsible for receiving and processing water orders, water billing, and assisting in the maintenance of the District’s financial accounting records. The Department is made up of skilled staff performing accounting tasks requiring the exercise of interpretative ability and judgment, and who play a vital role in accomplishing the mission of the District. The Accountant is fully qualified in both accounting and auditing procedures and systems. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and using computerized applications for accounting processes and interpreting and applying laws, regulations, and policies to the District’s accounting and financial methods and records. The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Coordinating financial activities with Federal and State agencies. Researching, preparing, reviewing, and analyzing all types of accounts and records of financial transactions requiring the application of accounting principles. Planning, organizing, and completing projects involving a variety of financial analyses, reconciliation, and data accumulation. Responding to and resolving problems and interpreting District policies and guidelines pertaining to accounting, budgeting, and water billing issues. Accumulating, reviewing, and analyzing project cost data, including preparation of written reports to the Board of Directors, monthly financial statements, and coordinating with project managers and staff to obtain accurate and concise data. Assisting with processing monthly water purchases, sales, and allocation accounting.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with major course work in accounting; and
Experience: Three (3) years of accounting experience.
(Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis.)
Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications and filing requirements will be scheduled for a written examination followed by a panel interview. Successful candidates will be placed on an eligibility list.
The District conducts verification of a candidate’s employment history, education and training and other information contained in the Employment Application and any other materials submitted by a candidate in an application packet and verification of any license requirements.
Salary: $3,579 - $4,315/mo.
