JOB DESCRIPTION:
Counselors at Seneca Center have a unique opportunity - a chance to join with other professionals to provide a nurturing, playful, warm and supportive environment for children placed in our care. You will learn to integrate our values into every aspect of the work that you do with the children and staff of Seneca Center. You will discover the joy that comes from teaching a child to have fun, to play, to set realistic and challenging goals - helping him or her develop healthy relationships with other children and adults.
Seneca’s day treatment programs provide a highly-structured therapeutic environment for students who need intensive mental health support in order to make the most of their education.
Whether offered in a public school setting or in one of our nonpublic special education schools, Seneca’s day treatment services address each student’s unique needs and goals with a personalized treatment plan that includes individual, group and family therapy. Students graduate from our day treatment programs with enhanced emotional health and problem-solving skills, enabling them to achieve greater success not only in school, but in all of their social relationships with others.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the classroom teacher in academic activities
Provide a supportive and caring classroom environment
Set clear and consistent limits
Implement a positively based behavioral system
Utilize creative interventions tailored to the individual needs of the youth
Daily Documentation of each child’s progress.
Intervene with the clients’ behavior program as needed. This includes physical management of the clients (implementation of Pro-ACT: Professional Assault Crisis Training) as necessary.
Qualifications:
BA/BS degree or Graduating Senior
At least 21 years of age
Valid CDL, clean driving record, and the ability to be insured by Seneca’s insurance policy
California Department of Justice and FBI fingerprint clearances
Ability to excel as part of a team
Salary: $13.00
