Recreational Therapist
Job Description:
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
•Interviews and evaluates clients to assess their service needs and levels of functioning using techniques such as diagnostic tests, exercise, and other assessments, including evaluating risk factors establishes an individual treatment plan based on identified factors and the client’s history and the input from the clinical service providers.
•Develops treatment, plans, and goals
•Determines the interventions or modalities by which these goals are to be achieved
•Participates in case staffing; ensures culturally efficient services to a diverse consumer base
•Participates in diagnostic and evaluative staff conferences for cooperative planning and treatment
•Communicates test results and measurements to direct service staff that are part of the interdisciplinary team for the client and as appropriate to family members
•Modifies initial and subsequent treatment programs consistent with the changing needs of the client
•Provides feedback to the interdisciplinary team on patient’s response to treatment and recommends maintaining or changing treatment procedures accordingly
•Provides referral services regarding recreational resources within the organization as well s the community
•Devise programs in art, music, dance, sports, games, and crafts for individuals with disabilities or illnesses.
•Summarizes progress of treatment for clients and keeps these records current
•Provides culturally appropriate interventions, to a diverse client population, while maintaining team involvement
•Provides guidance to clients in reaching their goals and monitors progress toward goals
•Interact productively within a multidisciplinary team in order to provide holistic case management services to clients
•Plan, organize, and direct a recreation therapy program designed to assist in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients or clients.
•Work outpatient and inpatient with individuals or groups
•Provides a full range of professional recreational therapy services
•Conducts a variety of therapeutic recreational, social, and physical activities adaptive to and focusing on the restoration of physical, social, and mental capabilities, including the planning and coordinating of community integration programs.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
One year of related experience in a behavioral health field.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in Therapeutic Recreation/Recreational Therapy
License:
Possess and maintain a current Recreation Therapist Certificate issued by the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification OR be a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) with certification issued by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation.
Possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s license.

Salary: $4,694.00 - $5,710.00 Monthly
