Programmer/Analyst I/II
Job Description:
The current vacancy is assigned to the Information Technology Services program located in Fresno, California. The eligible list established as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancy and may also be used to fill future vacancies.
THE POSITION:
The incumbent will design and program custom software applications; install and maintain client/server database servers; conduct feasibility studies; plan and develop test data to validate new or modified programs; develop program logic and processing steps; code programs in appropriate languages using structured programming techniques; and may conduct user training. The District uses Microsoft Windows server and client operating system software, Microsoft SQL database server software, Microsoft Visual Basic, and .NET. The ideal candidate will have broad knowledge of and/or experience in Windows-based object-oriented application programming, system design, client/server database servers, and user training.
Qualifications:
This position requires applicants who possess a Bachelor’s degree with coursework in information systems, computer science, or a closely related discipline. Experience in programming, analysis, design or implementation of automated systems may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis to a maximum of two (2) years. Knowledge of Visual BASIC or other object-oriented programming languages is highly desirable.
Qualified applicants must possess knowledge of: principles, practices, and techniques of information systems analysis including applications design, principles, and techniques used to evaluate work processes for new or modified computer applications; AND skill in: programming Windows-based object-oriented applications; analyzing office automation problems, formulating, and evaluating alternatives, and making sound recommendations; developing, programming, implementing, and maintaining custom software applications; training user staff in the operation of new or revised computer applications; preparing written training and resource materials; preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other written materials; making oral presentations; exercising sound independent judgment within general policy guidelines; and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid California Driver License and meet the automobile insurability requirement of the District.
Salary: Level I:$3,835-$4,664/Mo; Level II: $4,664-$5,671/Mo.
