Peer Tutor - Finance
Job Description:
Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Academic Support Coordinators, the peer tutor provides academic assistance to CSU Fresno students in groups and/or one to one. Peer tutors must attend and participate in tutor training and meetings, provide guidance to students, model good academic habits, promote student self-esteem and independent learning, personalize tutoring based on the needs of the student, provide a student perspective on academic life, and suggest supplementary materials and resources that will aid students in their studies.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be enrolled at California State University, Fresno within the 2008-2009 Academic year, Minimum units enrolled in: Graduate - 4 units, Undergraduate - 6 units Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Must have obtained a “B” or better in the class(es)of interest
Must have Sophomore Standing
Application packet must include:
One faculty recommendation letter for each subject area you wish to tutor, Copy of your most recent unofficial transcript, Copy of your class schedule (printed from your MYFRESNOSTATE portal)along with any additional time obligations
Must be able to attend all training sessions and meeting times.
Skills and Abilities:
Must have the ability to work effectively with people from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds
Must possess good oral and written communication skills
Must demonstrate a solid foundation of subject content
Must have a good understanding of general university policies and procedures, support services, and student life at Fresno State
Terms of Employment:
Employment is for one semester, with subsequent employment contingent upon satisfactory performance and supervisor evaluation.
Salary: $10.00
