Provides technical support to the Resources Management staff. Sample duties include: researching and documenting natural resources and environmental data; performing field work and NEPA tasks; developing a library of species accounts; researching topics or species to assist NEPA/Bio leads in preparing documents; compiling summaries of affected environment and impacts information from CEQA documents (generally an EIR) for use in an EA for inclusions, bridges, or similar project and adopting the findings of the CEQA document; researching and compiling environmental commitments from BO’s – calendar with reporting dates; tracking and following-up on mitigation measures; performing site visits to check out routine situations in the field (i.e., field work for CECs or verifying that contractor or project proponent is doing work as described in the CEC); preparing and coordinating CECs; preparing various materials for meetings and presentations and recording meeting notes; creating GIS maps for engineering projects; recording data; assisting with filing data and records, organizing data, database management.

Qualifications:

GS-03 - Successful completion of 1 year of study that included at least 6 semester hours in any combination of courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. At least 6 semester hours of courses must be directly related to the duties of the position, such as environmental sciences, general biology, ecology, fishery biology, aquatic fauna, or similar coursework. A copy of college transcript is required to validate required coursework. OR – 6 months of general experience.

GS-04 - Successful completion of 2 years of study above high school that included 12 semester hours such as those shown in above for GS-03; OR – 6 months of general experience and six months of specialized experience (such as, biological or physical science technician, or mathematical technician).

GS-05 - Successful completion of 4 years of study leading to a bachelor’s degree with at least 24 semester hours such as those shown in above for GS-03; OR – 1 year of specialized experience (such as, biological or physical science technician, or mathematical technician).

General experience is defined as any type of work that demonstrates the applicant’s ability to perform the work of the position, or experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation.

Part-time/Summer/Temporary/$11.34 to $14.24 per hour
