We are a science-based consulting firm providing engineering, survey, planning, geo-science, and environmental services located in the rugged, pristine paradise of northern California and southern Oregon. SHN offers interesting and diverse projects and has a dynamic and talented staff of 115 professional, technical and administrative staff covering a wide range of services.
Our Eureka, CA office has an immediate need for a Geotechnical Engineer who will be responsible for all phases of project management and execution. Geotechnical Engineers at SHN will negotiate agreements, conduct technical investigations, produce reports, and maintain client relations. Candidates must be able to work closely with our in house soils and materials testing laboratory. Additional tasks include investigating existing subsurface conditions and materials; determining their physical/mechanical and chemical properties that are relevant to the project considered, assessing risks posed by site conditions; designing earthworks and structure foundations; and monitoring site conditions, earthwork and foundation construction.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to successfully market technical and professional services, strong written and oral communication, organizational, and leadership abilities. Minimum of five (5) years technical experience and at least five (5) years of professional project management experience preferred.
Education/Registrations/Certifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university or college.
• Professional Geotechnical Engineer License (GE), California Preferred, other states considered
• Working knowledge of the conditions and engineering requirements in the geographic area.
• Valid Driver’s license (CA) by hire date
