Prevention Specialist
Job Description:
Facilitate and provide substance abuse prevention services, including education, activities, and programs for youth, schools, farm laborers, businesses, churches and other agencies identified in the County and State Prevention Standards. Maintain comprehensive documentation of all activities, contacts, materials, etc. Represent EOC Drug and Alcohol Prevention Program at various community events, dispersing education, information, and referrals. Facilitate support groups and the development of substance abuse prevention service programs and special events within the assigned region. Provide referral services within the assigned region. Assist in the collection and review of substance abuse prevention literature, audio and videotapes and other related materials for distribution and use within the region. Provide and assist in the coordination of training and educational programs regarding substance abuse issues and other related health and social issues. Prepare reports for the agency, County, and State as required by the contract. Attend meetings in representation of the region, as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
Qualifications:
BA or equiv required. A combination of advanced education (24 units or more, and additional exp. may substitute for a degree. Two (2) years paid experience in substance abuse prevention/treatment or One (1) year paid experience in substance abuse prevention/treatment and one (1) year health promotion experience or One (1) year paid experience in substance abuse prevention/treatment and 1,000 hours of documented volunteer activity in substance abuse prevention/treatment experience. Bilingual English / Spanish required.
